Monday, October 15th 2018 - Matt Hall Interview

Cherries fan Matt, talked me through the hard work that he and co-producer Sean put into creating content. Having left college recently, the lads saw Red and Black TV as a hobby primarily, but his passion for a career in the media and dedication to his boyhood team was evident.

Wednesday 31st October 2018 - Sam Chippeck interview

It was interesting following Sam's journey from East Finchley station to the London Stadium. Working as both a presenter and producer isn't an easy skill, he talked me through just how ambitious he was to create an entertaining final product.

Thursday 1st November 2018 Jordan Halford interview

As social media editor at Sky Sports News, Jordan's knowledge on how a mainstream broadcaster like Sky had shifted there own content to incorporate fan channels was eye-opening. However, he made a point that it was only in the past 1 or 2 years that the medium had really been taken seriously by Sky.

First, I wanted to get a rough idea of how many of the peers in my social circles were familiar with football fan media. I was aware that not everybody is as obsessed with the phenomenon as I am, so survey monkey was a great way to test the water. Over 87% were.

Monday 22nd October 2018

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to get work experience at Sky Sports News. Shadowing exceptional reporter, Jamie Weir, I learned about the professional standards fan media has to match to achieve industry standards of football content. Both in terms of technical proficiency and presentation.

Wednesday 31st October 2018 - West Ham vs Tottenham

Recording around the ground I was able to get cutaway footage and a real sense for the atmosphere before a derby.

Wednesday 14th November 2018 Mark Goldbridge Interview

Founder and presenter of The United Stand Mark Goldbridge gave me a terrific run-down of how they have embraced the radio phone-in and developed it for a more socially interactive audience. He also revealed how  he has had to change the way he presented himself in to avoid the widespread criticism he was receiving on social media.

Similar to the stance taken by Sky studios, over 70% of people that took my fan media survey weren't aware of fan media 5 years ago. This shows the relatively new voice that fan media platforms have in the premier league landscape.

Vlogger Sam Chippeck was subjected to abusive underneath the match-day vlog I followed him to. It really put into perspective the lack of acceptance sections of his own fan base have for the form. He spoke to me about the 'kick vloggers out of football' campaign, which was a surprise given the progressive perception I had of match vlogging.

Friday 16th November 2018

I sat down and had a chat with Neil Atkinson via Skype. It was evident that his attitude was that fan media should never sacrifice production value just because they are producing independent content. He wanted everything TAW produce to be 'as good, if not better than any media company out there.' Controversially he believed the age of the football radio phone in was 'dead'.
